Wesley Football Club Newsletter July 2010
www.wesleyfc.co.uk
Welcome Gents to the first newsletter of the 2010-11 season, most of this is to do with training and pre season stuff so please make sure you note any dates and times given…
Pre-season Training: continues on Tuesday, Thursday and those Saturdays not taken up by friendlies, in Wallace Park. Midweek times are 18:45 start and Saturday is 2.00pm. It’s good to see the numbers back up after the July holidays but there are still some old faces missing and some new ones yet to appear. Feedback on the training is that it has been good, varied and not repetitive. It is thought the training in the park will continue up to the 1st Thursday in September, with the first league matches on the Saturday and thereafter to Laurelhill Sports Zone. However don’t worry about that for now, you will be advised in good time of any changes of venue, just keep on keeping on in the park for now.
Friendlies: the first friendly of the season was at Dromore Ams last Saturday when Tom Neill took what amounted to basically two teams up and came away with a comfortable 4-0 win. I know results in pre season friendlies don’t count for a lot but a 4-0 win is much better than a 4-0 defeat so well done to all involved. There are a lot of friendlies in the pipeline, next up is an invitational tournament hosted by Lisburn Rangers on Saturday 31/07/10. Other teams involved are Sporting Lisburn and Broomhedge and it promises to be a good exercise. On the 7th August both 1sts and 2nds are on their travels to Rathfriland for a double header. For this particular fixture a coach has been booked to take everyone down there, the coach will leave Wallace Park at 11:00 with the return at 19:00. Please note that normal dues - £5-will apply to all those travelling as the coach, as well as kits, have to be paid for. On that subject, it was disappointing at Dromore to find that only £12 was voluntarily donated to pay for kits getting cleaned. We had virtually two teams there and should have lifted at least double that. (If it’s on your conscience I’ll take a £1 off anyone who missed out). Details of other friendlies will be announced nearer the time…
Club Merchandise: new kits for the forthcoming season are now all ready to go and believe me they look the part, made by Hummel they are white tops and black shorts. Club tracksuits are required by all players this season and this is how it will work – the cost is £55, for this you get a Hummel tracksuit and a matching polo top and the fee also includes your membership for the season. If you need help with the cost please see Stephen Spence, your club Chairman, football scratch cards are available to offset the cost, each card raises you £10 so I'll let you do the math yourself. Sizes are required quickly as we want these ready to go for the start of the season and you can give your order to Paul Butcher or Stephen Spence. Please be aware that the practices of buying tee shirts and sweatshirts of your own and getting the club logo added on is no longer permissible. Only merchandise passed by the club committee is allowed.
That’s all for now gents, if you have any queries or anything you wish included in the newsletters please let me know early in a month to get it included.
Yours in sport,
Robbie Cowan.
